WELLNESS AT DSR

A well-balanced diet supplies the essential nutrients that ensure good health throughout one’s life.

However, changes in modern lifestyles, a significant reduction in the time devoted to preparing and eating meals, have led to certain changes in eating habits that have harmful consequences for people’s health.
Helping and advising the consumer in making healthy food choices that are suited to their way of life has become one of DSR’s main objectives. Our ambition is to become the standard-bearer of service provision in the contract catering sector, concerned with the wellness of our guests.

For DSR, wellness is the experience of moments that combine pleasure and health. In order to give its consumers this feeling, DSR has undertaken a wide-ranging study, in the form of working groups, whose purpose is to define the main lines on which our company can act in order to influence wellness in its restaurants.

Four areas have been identified : the product, the relationship between consumers and the DSR employees, the atmosphere in the restaurant and food safety.

The product
Over and above offering a healthy and good-quality selection of foods, we should choose, as a priority, fresh products that are rich in flavours, and take care over how the foods are presented on the plate or in the different display cabinets. There should also be a great variety of dishes available, giving the guests the freedom to choose the foods that will make up their meal. In summary, we seek to stimulate the consumers’ senses to give them an appetite!

The relationship with the customers
Welcoming the guests with a smile, listening to them, trying to get to know them, and serving them quickly and in a personalised manner will greatly increase the customers’ pleasure when visiting the restaurant. Within the context of Wellness, DSR places particular emphasis on the advice and the tips it can give its customers to make them aware of the importance of a healthy and balanced diet. This gives consumers the opportunity to try out recipes at home.

The atmosphere in the restaurant
In the gastronomic environment, the atmosphere in an eating area greatly influences the feeling of wellness of its customers. This is even more the case in contract catering, where the restaurant is used virtually every day. The layout and design of the point of sale becomes hugely important in offering a place of relaxation and company. There should be enough seating without too much overcrowding, and the décor should be discreet and elegant. The level of activity also impacts on the atmosphere of a place. Regularly organising themed weeks helps to increase the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant.

Food safety
Informing customers of the strict measures applied by the kitchen staff to ensure total food safety is vital to foster a feeling of complete safety and wellness. The traceability of products, uncompromising adherence to the HACCP standards, optimised waste management in accordance with ISO 14001 are factors that combine to make a food service impeccable in every respect.
