These products are rich in proteins and calcium. They provide certain vitamins of the B group and contain vitamin A if the milk products have not been skimmed. They are essential for maintaining strong bones at any age.
The recommended daily servings are 3 to 4, depending on the size of the portions.
It is preferable to alternate milk, yoghurts, cottage cheeses and other cheeses to get a good balance between calcium, fats and salt.
One portion corresponds to:
• 2 dl (200 ml) of milk
• 180g of yoghurt
• 30 g of hard cheese (gruyère, emmental)
• 60g of soft cheese (tomme, reblochon)
• 200g of white cheese or cottage cheese
• a milk-based dessert (custard tart, for example)
